Describe your conceptual design approach as well as how it evolved as the project progressed.

Children love to imagine themselves doing adult activities. Even more than they love this type of pretend, they love using objects who’s original intent was not to become a toy, as play objects. What better way to host their imaginations and repurposing abilities than to give them a room full of un-proportional foam objects they wouldn’t normally be able to play with?

What resources were most effective in assisting you in developing your modeling skills? Your spatial configuration?
I relied heavily on the practice of trial an error to develop my modelings skills. Spatially, I found it useful to place a human component in the space to gauge the size of my modeled objects.

Discuss the limitations of the software and what challenges it presented in the development of you design.

Sketchup is a very orthogonally oriented modeling software. It took some time  for me to learn how to manipulate the software into creating what I had imagined.  After realizing it takes a series of tools, instead of just one tool to create a desired shape, the process when much smoother for me.

What other applications do you see the software being appropriate for outside of the applications presented for this project? Use your imagination.

I see sketchup being a great introduction to modeling software for middle age and high school kids. It empowers people to make basic items quickly, and without bogging learners down with the need for  precise measurements or relationships inside the model.
